How to grow passion fruit at home – whether it's a balcony, rooftop, or garden.

If you have even a small sunny spot – like a balcony, rooftop, or small garden – you can easily grow passion fruit. It's a sweet-tangy and fragrant fruit that's also good for your health. Here's a simple guide:
1. Sunlight is essential
Plant it where there's more than 6 hours of sunlight. If you live in a cold area, grow it in a pot and bring it indoors during winter.
2. Prepare good soil
Passion fruit likes soft, fertile soil with good drainage. If your soil is heavy, mix in cow dung manure or compost.
3. Seeds or plant – choose what’s easier
You can grow it from seeds (soak for 24 hours before sowing) or directly plant a sapling from the nursery – that’ll save time.
4. Provide support for climbing
It’s a vine, so you’ll need to give it support like a mesh, wire, or something sturdy to climb on.
5. Water and fertilize regularly
Keep the soil moist, but avoid waterlogging. Add fertilizer every 4–6 weeks for better fruiting.
6. Prune regularly
Cut off dry, dead, or overgrown parts so air can circulate and prevent diseases.
7. When to harvest?
When the fruit turns purple or yellow and feels slightly soft, gently pick it.
