The Virtues of Jummah

In Islam, Jummah (Friday) is considered a very special and blessed day. As mentioned in the Hadith, Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The best day on which the sun has risen is Friday. On this day, Adam (peace be upon him) was created, and on this day, he was admitted to Paradise." (Sahih Muslim: 854)

Performing the Jummah prayer is an obligation for every Muslim, as mentioned in the Quran: "When the call for prayer on Friday is made, hasten to the remembrance of Allah." (Surah Al-Jumu'ah: 62:9)

There is a special hour on Jummah when prayers are accepted. As mentioned in the Hadith: "On this day, there is a moment when any servant who asks Allah for something permissible will have their prayer granted." (Sahih Bukhari: 935)

Additionally, reciting Surah Al-Kahf, taking a bath (ghusl), and maintaining cleanliness on this day are Sunnah practices. This day is dedicated to worship, good deeds, and charity, providing a great opportunity to seek Allah's mercy and blessings.

What to Do on Jummah?

Jummah (Friday) is the most significant and blessed day in Islam. There are specific Sunnahs and etiquettes to follow to gain the virtues of this day.

Performing Ghusl and Maintaining Cleanliness:
On the day of Jummah, taking a bath (Ghusl), wearing clean clothes, and applying perfume are Sunnah. This reflects respect towards Allah and preparation for worship.

Recitation of Surah Al-Kahf:
Reciting Surah Al-Kahf on this day has great virtues. According to the Hadith, the one who recites Surah Al-Kahf on Jummah will have light (Noor) until the next Jummah.

Performing Jummah Prayer:
Jummah prayer is obligatory for every adult, sane, and male Muslim. It must be offered in congregation at the mosque, and it can only be missed under exceptional circumstances, such as illness or travel. Allah Almighty states in the Quran:

"O you who believe! When the call is proclaimed for prayer on Friday, hasten to the remembrance of Allah and leave off trade. That is better for you if you only knew." (Surah Al-Jumu'ah: 62:9)

Dua and Worship:
There is a special hour on Jummah when Allah accepts the prayers of His servants. During this hour, sincere prayers made to Allah are accepted without any hindrance (Sahih Muslim). On this day, one should seek forgiveness for sins, ask Allah for pardon, and make heartfelt supplications for their desires. This is an opportunity to improve oneself, seek solutions to problems, and pray for the well-being of family and society. Do not miss this chance to draw closer to Allah and improve your destiny.

Reciting Darood Sharif:
Reciting Darood Sharif (Salawat) on the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) is highly important and rewarding on Jummah. According to the Hadith, whoever sends blessings upon the Prophet once, Allah sends ten blessings upon them in return (Sahih Muslim). On this day, one should recite Darood Sharif abundantly, as it increases love and reverence for Allah and His Prophet in our hearts and enhances the chances of our prayers being accepted. It is an excellent way to earn Allah's blessings on Jummah.

Charity and Good Deeds:
Giving charity and helping those in need on Jummah is a highly rewarding act. Charity given on this day increases Allah's blessings and mercy. Helping the needy not only serves as an expiation for sins but also brings peace and a sense of goodness to the heart.

"Whoever spends in the way of Allah, He will return it to them multiplied." (Sahih Bukhari)
