In Ammayappan village of Thiruvarur district, Tamil Nadu, a son has built a magnificent structure similar to the Taj Mahal in memory of his mother.
This mausoleum was built by Amaruddin Sheikh Dawood for his mother Jailani Bibi, who passed away in 2020.
Amaruddin shares that his father passed away when he was a child.
His mother single-handedly raised four daughters and a son and always stood by them.
To keep his mother’s memory alive, he decided to build this mausoleum.
The mausoleum, built on one acre of land, was completed in two years at a cost of around ₹5 crore.
It covers 8,000 square feet and includes his mother’s tomb, a mosque, and a madrasa.
Amaruddin, a rice trader from Chennai, says that the resemblance to the Taj Mahal was purely coincidental.
He simply wanted to build a Mughal-style structure, but when the designer pointed out its similarity to the Taj Mahal, he decided to go ahead with it.
For this construction, 80 tons of white marble were brought from Rajasthan.
Skilled artisans from North India, along with local laborers, worked together to create this grand mausoleum.
Some people questioned the project's expenses, but Amaruddin said it is a symbol of his love and respect for his mother.
He hopes it inspires others to express love and gratitude toward their parents.
